Our field trip will be June 3, 2019
We will be doing a nature tour of Chartier's Creek. Come to school as you would normally attend.
There is no cost for this field trip. I will provide all necessary supplies.
Students should pack a lunch and beverage.
Students should dress accordingly. Please watch the weather and be prepared to get mud on your shoes.
Students will dismiss just as they would on a regular school day.
Itinerary:
-Hike to Chartier's Creek
-Examine the strata of rock layers.
-Provide a brief history of the importance of Chartier's Creek all the way back before the French and Indian War.
-Dissect owl pellets and reconstruct the skeleton of their digested prey. COOL!
-Perform a stream survey to collect any macroinvertebrates or vertebrates in the creek.
-In the method of Darwin, Audubon, and Jefferson, the students will do an artistic rendering of the samples we collect from the stream using an Aqua Globe.
-We will then hike back to SPS and have lunch.
-Lastly we will engage in an epic kickball game until dismissal(if time permits.)
