About Mr. Fischer

As St. Philip alum, it is with great pleasure to begin my fourth year of teaching
at this wonderful local Catholic School. I graduated from Our Lady of the Sacred
Heart in Coraopolis, where my main interests were playing volleyball, working at
the school’s news station (WCHR), while focusing on my history and literature
classes. I received my Associates Degree in Education from CCAC then continued my
schooling at Carlow University in Pittsburgh. There I developed my skills as a
teacher and my passion in theater, literature and history, both worldwide and local.
After serving my final term student teaching at Carrick High School, I began
substitute teaching at both of my former schools, St. Philip and OLSH. As of 2017,I
am in my second year of graduate school at Duquesne University, earning a Master's
Degree in Secondary Education Social Studies in addition to a certificate in
Instructional Technology.
I current reside in Ingram, PA. Mission Statement
History is the documentation of past events by humans. As such, there are
flaws, misconceptions and fallacies. It is our job as historians to dig
through the mountains of evidence and find the Truth. It is also our duty to
remember that these presidents, soldiers, and legendary figures are all
humans, with the same fears, hopes and desires as you and I. People cannot be
reduced to numbers and statistics.
It is the goal of this class to find the causes of events, to learn about the
lives of the people involved, and to discover their impact on today’s social
and political environments.

Students will learn how to read a primary source document and evaluate the
document for information.
Students will also be taught in the skill of map reading and location of
historical events and countries.
