Uniforms

  • St. Philip School maintains a Uniform Policy for all Grades K-8.  We have found this policy helps students to better focus on academic and social learning throughout the school day, devoid of distractions and peer judgment of clothing worn to school.

    Please refer to the St. Philip Handbook (found inside the school calendar with the green cover) for the complete policy.  Our school uniform provider, Educational Outfiters, also maintains an onsite list throughout the year detailing the acceptable uniform items for SPS.

    GIRLS: 

    • Must wear white, logo-embroidered shirt with a collar or turtleneck. 
    • Permitted to wear navy blue, logo-embroidered vest, crew-neck / v-neck sweater, cardigan over the uniform shirt. Also permitted to wear forest green, logo-embroidered gym jacket or gym sweatshirt over the uniform shirt. 
    • All grades may wear navy blue slacks with belt loops. A plain, dark belt with standard buckle and navy blue socks covering the ankle must be worn with these slacks. 
    • All grades may wear navy blue, knee-length walking shorts with belt loops from May 1 to September 30. A plain, dark belt with standard buckle and navy blue knee socks must be worn with these shorts. 
    • Kindergarten only may wear navy blue, knee-length skirt or skort.  
    • Grades 1-5 only may wear logo-embroidered, knee-length jumper in SPS plaid.  
    • Grades 6-8 only may wear knee-length skirt or skort in SPS plaid. 
    • All skirts, skorts, and jumpers must be worn with navy blue knee socks. 
    • Must wear plain, dark dress shoes (i.e., hard-soled loafers, oxfords, saddle shoes, etc.) with heel of less than 2 inches.

    BOYS:

    • May wear navy blue, knee-length walking shorts with belt loops from May 1 to September 30. A plain, dark belt with standard buckle and navy blue crew socks covering the ankle must be worn with these shorts.

    PLEASE NOTE: 

    • Separate uniform guidelines exist for gym days. Gym uniforms include logo-embroidered, forest green sweat suits / track suits with white SPS t-shirts.    
    • No tight-fitting uniform tops or bottoms.  
    • No hoodies or coats may be worn during the school day. 
    • No clogs, sandals, flip-flops, backless shoes, ballerina shoes, or shoes with heels higher than 2 inches. 
    • No boots may worn during the school day.  
    • No dyed hair, tattoos, colored fingernail polish, artificial nails, or makeup. (Exception: Girls in 8th grade are permitted to wear light make-up.) 
    • No hoop or dangling earrings. Simple post earrings are permitted for girls.  
    • Hair must be clean, brushed, and not excessively styled. Girls' eyebrows should be visible.  Boys' eyebrows, ears, and shirt collar should be visible. No ponytails permitted for boys.
