Welcome to the Fine Arts Site.   I am Mrs. Janet Bartlett and have been here at St. Philip School  for 29 years.I have been the art teacher for all those years and the music teacher for 21 of those years. I also had the privilege of teaching library for 7 years and religion for 27 years. 

My accomplishments include the instalation of the St. Philip Theater Department 29 years ago which is now in the very capable and talented hands of Miss Astwood, many Christmas programs including live nativities, Shadow Stations of the Cross, outdoor recorder concerts, the Diocese of Pittsburgh Local Schools Art Exhibit, and numerous School art exhibits and Glow Room Environments during Catholic Schools Week.

I am a graduate of Clarion State College (Clarion University) obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Most electives taken to obtain these degrees were in the area of fine arts.

I have been a resident of Chatham Village in Mt. Washington for 39 years.   I have 2 sons,Joe (in finance with Ally Bank)who resides in Philadelphia with his wife Casey(a teacher in the Avalon City Schools), and Ted (in Philanthropy at the National Aviary) who resides in Upper St. Clair with his wife Liz (assitant to the President of PPG Industries). I am Grandma along with their Grandpa of 4 beautiful grandchildren Benjamin, Natalie, Penelope, and Poppy. 

I am blessed with receiving the Golden Apple Award from the Diocese of Pittsburgh in 2005 of which I am very thankful to parents and collegues.   I am also president to the Western Pennsylvania Association of Primary Educators of which many of my St. Philip collegues are members. It is a great honor and  privelege to be teaching at St. Philip School.
