1 – Currently Saudi Arabia is fighting with Yemen. Describe the underlying issues with this conflict. Describe how this conflict fits within the context of politics within the Middle East. Describe the position that you believe the United States should take in regard to this conflict.

2 – The oil cartel, OPEC, meets periodically to discuss the price of oil. Describe the members of the cartel and how they control oil supply. What are the strategic goals for the cartel and how have they regulated oil in the past? How has their role in regulating oil changed in the last few years?

3 – There have been recent “run-ins” between countries within the oceans, particularly in the asia region. How are the boundaries of countries defined? Which countries have recently been involved in incidents within ocean waters and how does that fit into that countries ambitions of foreign policy?

4 – The control of intellectual property has been a contentious issue especially in regard to China. Has this ever been viewed as an issue in past trade conflicts? How was this resolved? Describe what you feel is an adequate policy for the protection of intellectual property between two countries? How should differences be adjudicated?

5 – After having winning seasons and making the playoffs in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the Pittsburgh Pirates have had three lackluster seasons. Describe the roster changes that have been made that have led to this performance. In particular, describe the finances that determine how the roster is constructed for the team. Describe what you think the organization needs to do in order to return the playoffs for the 2019 season.
