The following concepts will be covered (not necessarily in this order):

    •  Identify 3-dimensional figures and their attributes (faces, edges, vertices).
      • sphere, cylinder, cube, pyramid, cone.
    •  Identify 2-dimensional figures and their attributes (angles, sides).
      • circle, triangle, rectangle, square, quadrilateral, parallelogram, pentagon, trapezoid, hexagon.
    • Build 2-dimensional figures and identify the attributes of the resulting figures.
    • Identify congruent figures.
    • Identify 2-dimensional figures that have a line of symmetry.

Remember to study facts for addition and subtraction with your child as often as you can!

It is very important that the children practice math facts to 12 or even 20. That means learning all addition and subtraction facts with answers up to 12 or 20 by heart. This will make the addition that we work on in this chapter much easier. If your child is using fingers to count out simple addition facts to 12, he/she will struggle with these concepts in all math work. Use flash cards and make a game of it. I sent home some ideas for you and have many more if you need them. Just ask! I am here to help you to work together with your child at home. Your support of our lessons helps to reinforce the concepts. Thank you!
