Mrs. Samantha Wilfert

Guardians/Parents of the Students of 1B,

Hello there! Welcome to the 2017-18 school year! Throughout the
year, the students and I will have many opportunities to learn about each
other. In our classroom, we are really going to concentrate on working
together to accomplish our goals. I just wanted to take a minute to tell you
a little about me. My name is Mrs. Wilfert (Although you will hear some of
the older students still call me Miss Nucci!), and I will be your child’s
first grade teacher this school year. In the past, I have taught both third
and fourth grade here at SPS!!!

I graduated from Slippery Rock University with an undergraduate degree in
Elementary and Early Childhood Education. While there, I spent five months
student teaching in first grade. I also held minors in Elementary School
Mathematics and Special Education. I truly believe that learning is a
lifelong adventure, and I have been busy since my graduation. I returned to
Slippery Rock while teaching preschool prior to working at SPS and graduated
with my Master’s in Education Degree majoring in Special Education. I am also
certified in Middle School Mathematics and Middle School Language Arts. I am
excited to share my love of learning with the students at SPS!

In addition to working in the classroom at St. Philip, I work periodically
for the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh within their Special Events
Department. I have done birthdays, holiday parties, banquets, weddings, and
more! Did you know there are many weddings held at the Children’s Museum each
year? In my spare time, I enjoy coaching for Ingram Girls Softball and
scrapbooking. I enjoy playing with my two crazy puppies, Bella and Punxy. I
am a mommy to two AMAZING little ones. Jack turned four this past summer,
and Madison turned two at the end of last school year. I can’t believe how
quickly time has gone with them as I am sure you cannot believe that your
little one is already in first grade! Jack and Madison are true blessings in
my family, and I feel so grateful to be their mommy!

First grade is a year to lay foundations that the students will build upon as
they get older. Your child’s success in first grade can be achieved by us
working as a team. Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns,
please feel free to contact me by phone, email, or by sending in a note with
your student. I look forward to getting to know both you and your child more
as we begin our year together.

My Promise To You – I promise that each day your child will learn something
new. Some days it will come home in their hands (or folder). Some days it
will come home in their heads. Some days it will come home in their hearts!

All the best,

Mrs. Wilfert
