Each student in 1B will get a week to let us know a little more about them! We will begin starting in October! Look for the Star Bag to come home soon! Check out the week's line up for what to expect.

    Monday

During the week before a student is Star of the Week, the “Star Bag” will be sent home with the child. The bag will be needed later in the week, but you will also find their “All About Me” star poster to complete with them. They also should have this on Monday ready to post in the classroom. They can read it for their classmates, or I can read it for them. They may use what they like to NEATLY complete, fill it our, and decorate the star making it colorful!

    Tuesday

Students should bring in three to five photos of the students’ choice to display on our “Shining Star” board and tell the class about. These photos will hang in our room for the week and will be returned to you.

    Wednesday

Please help your student choose two items that represent them- something they enjoy, are proud of, etc. Please do not send anything valuable or breakable. Put these items in the “Star Bag” and send it to school today. Your student will tell his/ her classmates about them and why they are so special.

    Thursday

Please help your student fill our "Estimation Station" jar. Please choose up to 50 objects to put inside of the jar. These can be anything you like; however, PLEASE make sure they are NOT breakable. If you wish, they may (but do not have to be) edible, but I ask to keep them peanut free in case of any potential allergies! The class will each take a turn trying to guess the estimate, so make sure our Star Student keeps the exact amount a secret! Families, if you wish, you may also keep the exact amount a secret from the Star Student so they can guess too!

    Friday (This is my favorite!)

Parents (or if you would like another family member) will write a letter to the class telling us how special your student is to you. Send the letter in a sealed envelope to school with your student, and I will read the letter to the class at morning meeting. The content of the letter is up to you, but you may want to choose from the following ideas: describe special or funny stories about your child for the class to hear, write a silly or serious poem about your child, tell us some neat things we may not know about your child, send silly or special pictures with a letter describing the pictures, or write a short story with your child as the main character. Remember, your child’s classmates will hear the letter!

*** Please let me know if you have any questions!!!! ***
